This is one of my old favorites so I just really want to share it on my blog. Not only is the painting fantastic (I love the highlights on the gloves and the tendons in Scout’s hand), but the body language is great. Medic’s hands look gentle and patient, bracing Scout’s face as he evaluates the injury. And the little peek at Scout’s eye underneath his hat, how he’s averting his gaze—either in pain or maybe shame that he got like this in the first place—is perfect. I love it!
